Duties
- Install, wire, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and renovation settings using hand tools and power tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical schematics to accurately execute project plans.
- Work with low voltage and high voltage systems, ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
- Use testing equipment such as ohmmeters to diagnose electrical issues efficiently.
- Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automation systems in industrial environments.
- Collaborate with construction teams on site to coordinate electrical installations and ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems, perform maintenance tasks, and document all work performed accurately.
Requirements
- Valid Journeyman Electrician Class A license, Residential or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience as an industrial electrician, commercial, or residential electrician working on construction sites or renovation projects.
- Strong knowledge of NEC regulations, schematics reading, and blueprint interpretation.
- Hands-on experience with low voltage wiring, high voltage systems, and troubleshooting electrical issues using appropriate tools like ohmmeters.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics, and control wiring is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate power tools safely and efficiently; experience with frame carpentry or handyman skills is a plus.
- Construction site experience demonstrating adaptability in various environments; ability to work at heights or in confined spaces if required.

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Electrical Apprentice to join our growing team. You will work directly under the guidance of licensed Journeyman and Master Electricians. This role combines hands-on field experience with professional development. It is an excellent opportunity to earn a competitive wage while tracking hours toward your journeyman license.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist field leaders with daily electrical installations, system troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks.
- Measure, cut, and bend conduit accurately using manual, mechanical, or hydraulic benders.
- Pull and route wires and cables through conduits, trays, and structures.
- Install electrical fixtures, junction boxes, switches, and receptacles.
- Read blueprints and technical schematics to understand circuit layouts.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring a clean and highly organized job site.
- Follow safety protocols strictly in alignment with OSHA guidelines and company policy.
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa Electrical Apprentice License (or a willingness to register with the Iowa Electrical Examining Board before starting work).
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Valid driver’s license with a reliable and clean driving record.
- Basic math skills for precise physical measurements and trade calculations.
- Physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varied weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment in a recognized program like the ABC Iowa Apprenticeship or an IOWA IBEW JATC track.
- Previous experience as an unindentured apprentice or construction helper.
