Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, motivate, and manage roofing crews on active job sites
• Set clear expectations for safety, productivity, and quality
• Coach and mentor foremen and crew members to support growth and performance
• Address and resolve on-site conflicts promptly and professionally
• Maintain crew morale during demanding project phases

Safety & Compliance

• Champion Brockway Mechanical’s safety-first culture
• Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and job hazard analyses
• Ensure all crew members and subcontractors follow OSHA and company safety standards
• Hold teams accountable for safe work practices

Project Execution & Scheduling

• Plan and execute daily and weekly work schedules
• Monitor project timelines and proactively address potential delays
• Coordinate labor, equipment, and subcontractors to meet project goals
• Oversee material ordering, deliveries, and on-site inventory

Quality Control

• Inspect work to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and company standards
• Address deficiencies and guide corrective actions when needed
• Ensure completed work meets Brockway Mechanical quality expectations

Communication & Client Relations

• Serve as the on-site representative for Brockway Mechanical
• Communicate clearly with project managers, clients, and general contractors
• Provide updates on progress, challenges, and solutions
• Maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders
• Perform additional duties as needed to support business and project needs

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of roofing or construction leadership experience
• Proven ability to lead crews and manage multiple priorities
• Strong working knowledge of roofing systems including TPO, EPDM, PVC, Mod Bit, and asphalt shingles
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, but not required
• High school diploma or GED required (technical training a plus)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform in varying weather conditions

Work Environment

This role is primarily field-based on active construction sites throughout the Des Moines metro and surrounding areas. The Roofing Superintendent must be comfortable working outdoors, leading teams in physically demanding environments, and traveling between job sites. Standard hours are Monday–Friday, with evenings or weekends as required by project schedules.
