Journeyman Responsibilities
- Measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installing conduit
- Overseeing, or participating in, wire installations with conduit & cable tray
- Connecting power to equipment
- The ability to lead/develop up to 4 apprentice electricians
- Knowledge of other construction trades
- Ability to stand, walk ,and lift up to 100 lbs in construction work environment
- Ability to climb, and maintain balance, on ladders and scaffolds while carrying tools
- May be exposed to high and precarious places
- Risk of electrical shock and outside weather conditions
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience: We are looking for electricians with experience using, or the desire to learn, the latest BIM/VDC technologies for pre-planning and on-site coordination of all Interstates projects.
- Must have state issued journeyman electrician license (or equivalent)
- Industrial electrical experience required.
- Knowledge of BIM/VDC Technology preferred.
Location/Travel: This position will require travel in/around Sioux Center, IA - up to/within a 200-mile radius. Applicants must be permanently located in/around the office location or be willing to permanently relocate. Applicants must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Per diem and mileage stipends applicable per company policy.
Work Schedule: Start times, break times and work hours vary per site and stage of our projects. Our employees work more than 40 hours per week but no more than 60, as part of our commitment to safety. Due to the type of construction, weekend work maybe required on occasion.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, this role is often exposed to high/precarious places, risk of electrical shock, and all outside weather conditions. This role is expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Due to the nature of our work and our client base, this role may involve tasks in an environment exposed to dust. Candidates should be comfortable working in these conditions and complying with safety standards to protect their well-being.

Field Leader Responsibilities
Employee will use his/her experience in the field to lead a team of 3-15 people, must be OK to work in the field "on tools" when needed. Employee will be on-site working closely with crew, managing projects, communicating needs and upholding safety standards, maintaining budgets and building relationships with clients.
- Leadership - Consistently leads and motivates with positive influence that enables the team to contribute towards the effectiveness of achieving goals and project success
- Project Execution - Cost, schedule and productivity, ensures all resources are being effectively utilized to execute the project successfully
- Safety - Has overall responsibility and dedication to keep the project and crews safe by setting the safety tone through active participation and involvement in the Interstates behavior based safety program
- Communication - Builds productive relationships with onsite client representatives and allied trades on the project
- Coaching/Mentoring - Views coaching and mentoring as an essential part of their job. Continually strives to develop others so that they may achieve their full potential as an essential part of the team
- Planning and Layout - Overall responsibility for understanding the project plan and working the plan for project success
- Knowledge - Has an overall electrical and construction knowledge
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Desire and experience being on-site industrial electrical projects
- Must have some experience leading a crew
- Desire to be part of building a team and a culture
- Must have a state-issued journeyman electrician's license (or equivalent-masters)
Location/Travel: This position will require 100% travel to assigned worksites across the United States. Applicants must be permanently located in/around the office location or be willing to permanently relocate. Applicants must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. - State issued Journeyman Electrician License (NCCER does not qualify as a state license)
Location and Travel:
This position will require travel typically within 200 miles of the Ft. Dodge, IA office. Applicants must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Per Diem and mileage stipends applicable per company policy.

Journeyman Electricians collaborate daily with foremen and site superintendents to coordinate work, manage risk, and keep jobs moving safely and efficiently. Across every role, safety is non‑negotiable. Every team member is expected to follow safety requirements, use PPE properly, and uphold Interstates’ Zero‑Injury expectations.
Journeyman Responsibilities
This role is ideal for licensed electricians who want steady national travel, hands-on industrial work, and career advancement opportunities.
Core Work Includes:
- Measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installing raceways
- Overseeing or participating in wiring installations using conduit and cable tray
- Connecting power to motors, equipment, and industrial systems
- Leading, training, and developing up to four apprentice electricians
- Collaborating with other trades to support coordinated jobsite workflows
- Standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. in an active construction environment
- Climbing ladders and scaffolding and maintaining balance while carrying tools or materials
- Working at heights and in outdoor or higher‑risk jobsite conditions
- Using required personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all safety protocols
- Performing additional duties as assigned to support project success
Qualifications
Required:
- State‑issued Journeyman Electrician license (or equivalent; 8,000 documented hours accepted where no state license exists)
- Industrial electrical experience (strong commercial experience considered)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
